At BISR we support learning in a wide-range of ways, through Service Learning, Residential trips and Extra-Curricular Activities. These activities enhance classroom based learning and provide a holistic education for our students.
Our Co - curricular Pillar
At BISR we provide a holistic educational experience for our students. Academic studies are enhanced by provision of a broad co-curricular programme, including a comprehensive range of extra-curricular activities, eco-school initiatives, service learning experiences, leadership opportunities, day trips and residential trips. These are further enhanced through sporting competitions and inter-school events such as Model United Nations, taking advantage of local, national and international opportunities.
Our enrichment programme helps students develop a wide range of skills and attributes that enhance their more formal studies. We leverage from as many local opportunities as possible, along with promoting intercultural learning through trips that take students further afield. Research shows that involvement in the broader school curriculum through enrichment activities, supports stronger academic performance and enhanced student wellbeing; both of which are things that students would want for themselves and parents want for their children.
Further enrichment is provided through use of our desert camp at Thumamah, a short drive from the city of Riyadh. Students across all age groups visit the camp for day and residential trips throughout the year. We leverage from this unique opportunity to help students connect with nature, to enhance the curriculum, which may include Art projects or Geography fieldwork, and to develop skills of resilience and perseverance through more physical challenges such as extended hikes.
We are very proud of the enrichment programme we offer and expect all students attending BISR to become fully involved in this area of our curriculum.
