For the school year 2020-2021 the DQ campus will cater for children from ages 3-11, following the same curriculum as our other primary campuses: the English Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for the youngest children and the English National Curriculum (NC) for Years 1 to 6, adapted for our local and International Context.
Over the next 5-years the campus will evolve into a through-school for children from ages 3-18. Programmes for children in Years 7-11 will be the same as on our Al Hamra campus, but for our oldest children we will be offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme. Students who wish to study A Levels can move to our Al Hamra campus, and students can transfer to the DQ campus to study the IB Diploma, providing greater levels of choice for our families.
The new campus is a redevelopment of two adjacent buildings in the DQ and a third building will be added to house the Senior School. Facilities for our first year of operation include a modern open plan indoor and outdoor facility for our EYFS programme and 12 primary classrooms, along with 5 specialist rooms for art, design and food technology, and learning support. Additionally the school will have a well-stocked library and large multi-purpose hall. Sports facilities include a basketball court sized indoor gym, an outdoor AstroTurf, an indoor 25 metre swimming pool, and an outdoor basketball court. There is also ample outdoor space for children to play in. The entire campus will be wi-fi enabled with bandwidth capability to support a full one-to-one device ICT programme.
We are working closely with other organisations in the DQ to create a number of partnerships to support our extra-curricular programme for this campus. Students on our DQ campus will have full access to the BISR desert camp at Thumamah. A broad range of ECAs will be offered at our DQ campus, along with opportunities for Service Learning and Eco-school activities. Additionally, students will be given the chance to participate in local and international trips.
High quality learning, student well-being and co-curricular programmes underpin our Whole School philosophy, including the programmes planned for the DQ campus.
