About BISR

Recently named as the top school in Saudi Arabia for the second year running, the British International School Riyadh (BISR) is an extremely well-regarded not-for-profit co-educational school in the Middle East, catering for students aged 3-18, providing high-quality education to the expatriate community since 1979. Currently, 1700 students, ages 3 to 18 learn at our Al Hamra campus, whilst our smaller Salwa campus is the educational home for 150 Primary students from ages 3-11. In August 2020 Tabuk and Taif Primary Schools, home to 60 and 30 students respectively, joined the BISR family.  In August 2022,  our third campus in Riyadh, in the Diplomatic Quarter expanded from primary only to include senior and Sixth form.

This year BISR is expanding to include a 2000 capacity through school, Al Waha,  which will house our current Al Hamra students. The Al Hamra campus, which has been the home of BISR for the last 25 years, will be renovated to the standard of our new campuses and re-opened as a primary school in September 2024. Additionally we will open a new BAE school - Al Saqr in the Al Majma'ah region.

Approximately 50% of our students are British passport holders with over 90 different nationalities represented across the school. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and as a British School Overseas (BSO). BISR is also a member of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME), the Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO), the Heads Conference (HMC) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). The school follows the English curriculum, greatly enriched by the local and international context. Learning is holistic, supported by a broad co-curricular programme, encompassing extra-curricular activities, house events, student leadership, service learning and residential trips. Strong pastoral care supports student well-being.
