Pastoral care

An outstanding feature of BISR is the supportive relationships that exist between students and staff, and among the students themselves. We are very proud of the excellent care, guidance and support we offer. On leaving BISR, students and their families consistently comment on the tremendous help and encouragement they received from their peers and our dedicated teachers.

Ongoing relationships with teachers, the close personal attention given to students by specialist staff and a well-structured system of pastoral care, mean that our knowledge of each student's abilities and aptitudes is exceptional. This enables us to provide all students with personalised academic and pastoral support which is a key ingredient in their high levels of achievement.

In the primary school, each child has their class teacher for most lessons. The class teachers get to know the children well, and establish a strong partnership with parents to support the child’s learning.

In the senior school, each child has a form tutor who they see at least once a day. The Form Tutor gets to know the students well, and provides a support and guidance throughout the year.

Regular assemblies in each of the schools, and sometimes whole school assemblies, explore different themes and the school’s PHSE (Personal, Health and Social Education) programme) programme underpins key elements of pastoral care. Further support is available from our excellent team of school counsellors and the Nursing Team.
