The Learning Support (LS) department is comprised of three SEN Teachers and Support Assistants (LSAs) who provide in class support, small group lessons as well as some 1:1 pullout sessions as required. A limited number of Individual Support Assistants (ISAs) are utilized to support individual students at an additional cost to parents.
Our LS department provides a range of services. Firstly, we serve as a resource centre providing information, and guidance to assist families, students, and teachers. A key function of LS is the assessment and evaluation of students referred for academic or social difficulties. We provide links to the other service providers (e.g. Educational Psychologists and Speech Therapists) when they are available in Riyadh. LS staff work collaboratively with teachers and parents to plan and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). The department facilitates on-going staff development and training which focuses on the needs of the current students. Senior SEN staff members work in conjunction with the Examinations Officer to provide Access Arrangement entitlements and invigilation for examinations. BISR LS staff advocate for students across all sections of the school to promote positive learning environments.
The LS department takes pride in providing excellent individualised support and programs and therefore it should be noted that we are only able to provide this level of support within our staffing capabilities.
